If you are a senior planning to enroll in college next year, now is the time to complete the 2021-22 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is the gateway to all federal aid, including loans, work-study, and grants. Many scholarships also require that a FAFSA be on file.
Before you begin, click here to see what to expect and what information you'll need in order to complete the FAFSA. Then go to the FAFSA home page and click the “Start Here” button. Some states and schools have limited funds, so don’t delay! The ACT test is scheduled for Sky Islands seniors on Tuesday, October 6. This will be an in-person test on the school campus, and all COVID safety measures will be in place.
Students must come to campus to complete an ACT information sheet with Allie prior to the day of the test (this cannot be done on test day). It should take between 20 minutes and 1 hour depending on whether you choose to fill in the optional sections. Updated available dates/times are: Monday, September 21: 3:30-4:30pm Tuesday, September 22: 3:30-4:30pm Friday, September 25: 3:30-4:30pm Tuesday, September 29: 3:30-4:30pm Wednesday, September 30: 3:00-4:00pm Friday, October 2: 3:30-4:30pm *If you have already picked up your 'Taking the ACT Test' booklet, please bring it with you when you come to complete your information sheet. If not, you will receive your booklet then. On test day, students should arrive at campus no later than 8:45am. The test will begin promptly at 9:00am. The tests last approximately 3 1/2 hours. Students should be done with the tests by 1:00pm To prepare for the test, students may take advantage of Zoom tutoring sessions with Leighton and visit the Information for Examinees webpage. Pima Community College is hosting a virtual engineering show for U of A, Pima CC, and local high school students. Local engineers will explain what they do and why they do it.
The show will be held via Zoom on September 21-25. Different companies will present each afternoon, and presentations will finish with a student-centered Q & A session. Pima Community College has decided to pursue virtual college fairs via GoToCollegeFairs. The first fair is scheduled for Saturday, September 19, 10:00am - 3:00pm. Additional fairs are scheduled for October 27 and November 17. More fairs will be offered in Spring 2021. You must register online in order to attend.
